Former Big Brother Africa Season 7 star, Derick Kobina Bonney populary known by stage name, ‘DKB’ has been named the Comedian of the Year at the maiden Ghana Entertainment Awards USA.
The awards ceremony was held at the Florence Gould Hall Theatre over the weekend in New York City.
The category was keenly contested by many of Ghana’s funny men but the former Big Brother Africa housemate emerged the victor.
The star posted on social media saying, “DKB wins best Ghana Comedian in USA. Thanks to you for the massive support. Big respect to #DKBREPUBLIC. Don’t give up, enemies no be God”.
“I was much honoured to receive such an award, I would like this use award to urge the youth on to not give up and focus on their dreams and they would definitely achieve it.”- DKD added.

Other winners on the night were actor Lil Win, rapper EL, actor/producer Van Vicker and artist Okyeame Kwame.
Meanwhile, In April this year, former Ghanian First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, gave a damning verdict on Ghana’s King of Comedy, DKB when she said his jokes were boring.
“Don’t mind him [DKB]; his jokes are boring,” Nana Konadu said.
DKB managed to walk away with the top prize as the comedian of the year at the Ghana Entertainment Awards in the US and He’s arguably Ghana’s king of comedy in the last three years
